star-wars-force-awakens

Counting down the 332 days until The Force Awakens on December 18, 2015.

In the days leading up to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, And There Came A Day will present links, images, videos, art, memories, laughs, theories and thoughts leading up to the big day… which happens to be on my birthday!  ENJOY and may the Force be with you, always… or at least until 12.18.15!

BEST STAR WARS TOY OF MY CHILDHOOD

I had a lot of great Star Wars toys when I was a kid but my favorite one, without question, was The Death Star. It was also the largest Star Wars toy I owned. The play set featured all kinds of scenes from the movie: Luke and Leia’s bridge jump, the trash compactor, the turret where Obi Wan deactivated the Death Star’s shields so the Millennium Falcon could escape, the elevator (which worked!), the massive gun that could destroy planets! and many, many more settings.

I still have mine, though it’s in far from vintage condition, to be sure. Anyone else have theirs? Be sure to check on the vintage commercial for the play set after the photos!

Death Star Kenner

Here it is with its box! I wish mine was in this condition!

This picture of the side of the box shows Ben turning off the Death Star’s shields and Luke and Leia before and during their jump!

Trash Compactor 2

A top view of the trash compactor. Notice the handle on the right… twisting it pushed the wall in!

Trash Compactor

The Trash Compactor came with foam trash and a trash monster! See the green plastic shape?
