Over the course of this week leading up to the 87th Annual Academy Awards, And There Came A Day will look at the major categories and make predictions of the winners!
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
- Patricia Arquette – Boyhood
- Laura Dern – Wild
- Keira Knightley – The Imitation Game
- Emma Stone – Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
- Meryl Streep – Into the Woods
PREDICTED WINNER – Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
This is, by far, the easiest category to predict. Not only is Arquette very good in Boyhood, and she is remarkably good – she provides the most daring performance of the movie, not simply aging along with the plot, but growing throughout, but she has cleaned up in the awards run-up to the Oscars. At times sad, at times inspiring, Arquette’s performance in Boyhood (reviewed HERE) is the one that stayed with me the longest after seeing the film. I found myself thinking about her character long after the movie was over.
The other performers I’ve seen in this category are very good. Arquette is brilliant.
