TIME IS ON THE DARK SIDE
Darth Vader is one of the greatest villains to ever grace screens. His presence in the original trilogy overshadows (no pun intended) his superiors Grand Moff Tarkin and the Emperor. Ruthless and relentless, imposing and implacable, Vader made an immediate impression on audiences in 1977 and has been an iconic incarnation of evil (bracketing his turn to the Light Side in Return of the Jedi) ever since.
So, it’s kind of hard to believe that he is only on-screen in A New Hope for 12 minutes, isn’t it?
That’s right. Darth Vader’s screen time in A New Hope was shorter than the running time of a sitcom.
Jar Jar Binks had more screen time in The Phantom Menace proving the concept that more of something isn’t always better.
