DAVID FINCHER WORKED ON RETURN OF THE JEDI
There have been a lot of innovations throughout the years that the Star Wars films have brought about, and not all of those Hollywood innovations were technical.
Great films have a way of inspiring great minds, but it’s rare for great minds to work on great films before they hit it big. That was the case with Oscar-nominated director David Fincher. The director was hired as a teenager to work with George Lucas’ special effects team Industrial Lights and Magic, and as a result worked on Return of the Jedi in 1983.
Fincher wouldn’t hit it big in Hollywood for another decade, when he was handed Alien 3 before going on to make classics like Seven, Fight Club, The Social Network and most recently Gone Girl.
A bonus fact is that as part of the Industrial Lights and Magic team in the early 80s, a young Fincher also worked special effects on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom — ironically the darkest of the Indiana Jones films.
