Oscars

The Academy Awards Ceremony is Sunday, February 29. Leading up to the event, And There Came A Day presents a predictions for the major categories.

BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

Best Actress

NOMINEES

Cate Blanchett – Carol
Brie Larson – Room
Jennifer Lawrence  – Joy
Charlotte Rampling – 45 Years

Saoirse Ronan – Brooklyn

WHO WILL WIN

Brie Larson – Room

Of all the races (perhaps save Best Picture) this category seems to be the most wide open. Early energy was behind Cate Blancett and Academy darling Jennifer Lawrence is always a threat. But, for her performance in Room, Brie Larson has been regarded as powerful and seems to have all the pre-Oscar buzz heading into the award weekend. This is the kind of role the Academy tends to reward.

WHO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WIN

Brie Larson – Room

Unless there is a strong movement for some kind of lifetime achievement award for Charlotte Rampling, which I don’t think will happen, Brie Larson should take home gold.
