Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu – The Revenant
Tom McCarthy – Spotlight
Adam McKay – The Big Short
George Miller – Mad Max: Fury Road

WHO WILL WIN

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu – The Revenant

It appears Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, after winning last year for Birdman, will be returning to the podium to collect a second, consecutive Oscar for The Revenant. Though the movie may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there is no denying it is quite the cinematic achievement.

WHO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WIN

Adam McKay – The Big Short

Known for his collaborations with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay shocked the industry this year with The Big Short, which was the movie that surprised me the most this year. Deftly dealing with a complex narrative structure, McKay delivered a fascinating film that ended up being nominated for best picture. I’d love to see him take home the Oscar.
