I loved Lincoln Logs when I was a kid. Though I never entertained the idea that I would be a designer, engineer or architect, something about putting together these wooden and plastic pieces was simply simple fun. Connecting to ideas through the blogosphere seems similar to this pursuit, hence the title of this weekly post. Each Friday, I intend to post something interesting I’ve read out there on the internets. Hopefully others will find these posts as thought provoking as I have.
As it turns out, Link’n’Blogs is likely to be more political than I originally intended as we rocket towards November. This article by David Brooks published in The New York Times really hit home this week with a trend that increasingly worries me. Many in American culture seem so enamored of “outsiders” who “buck the system” that it is forgotten that those who have worked within and understand the system actually can affect systemetic changes and those who have been outside the system may not be best suited to affect the changes which they promise they can. The end result leads somewhere… chilling.
