In the last ten days, I’ve seen Star Trek Beyond twice and have enjoyed it immensely each time. I’ve noted in this blog before that my objectivity for things Star Trek is highly limited so one should not necessarily take my endorsement as more than the love of a fairly rabid fan being presented a new chapter in a beloved saga. However, I was most gratified this week when my young nephews (11 and 9 respectively) were introduced to Star Trek via the 2009 film. I have been vacationing with my family this week, my mother, sisters and their children along with my family. In an attempt to keep the young boys happy and quiet, their parents allowed them to watch an on demand movie. They selected (perhaps with a little help from their Star Trek t shirt wearing uncle) Star Trek and loved it so much that the next day, they wanted to watch Star Trek Into Darkness. They almost decided they would rather see Star Trek Beyond than play putt-putt golf or ride an alpine slide today… almost.
My point with this particular posting is this: Star Trek’s appeal remains strong. It lives long and it prospers.
