Link’n’Blogs – 2.3.17: 13 Rogue One Revelations

I loved Lincoln Logs when I was a kid. Though I never entertained the idea that I would be a designer, engineer or architect, something about putting together these wooden and plastic pieces was simply simple fun. Connecting to ideas through the blogosphere seems similar to this pursuit, hence the title of this weekly post. Each Friday, I intend to post something interesting I’ve read out there on the internets. Hopefully others will find these posts as thought provoking as I have.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ve seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story by now. Did you know it’s the highest grossing film of 2016? That’s pretty impressive when one considers it only opened on December 16th. I loved the movie and this article is an interview with the director and an exciting “deep dive” into the backstory some of which was filmed but didn’t make the final cut. And, are you wondering whether Chirrut and Baze were, in fact, gay? Interesting answer here…

COUNTDOWN TO STAR WARS EPISODE SEVEN – 96 DAYS

star-wars-force-awakens

Counting down the 96 days until The Force Awakens on December 18, 2015.

In the days leading up to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, And There Came A Day will present links, images, videos, art, memories, laughs, theories and thoughts leading up to the big day… which happens to be on my birthday!  ENJOY and may the Force be with you, always… or at least until 12.18.15!

FORCE AWAKENS SECRET ENDING?

A rumor emerged this week that The Force Awakens will have a Marvel Studios-like secret ending… That makes some sense as Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars and they have clearly seen the excitement a so-called “stinger” at the end of the credits generates.

If rumors are to be believed, audiences will be treated to a teaser for Star Wars: Rogue One following The Force Awakens. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the case as Rogue One opens on December 19, 2016, almost a year-to-the-day after The Force Awakens.

RIGHT WITH YOU, BOSS

Yesterday, Countdown discussed Rogue One, the first of the Disney produced movies that will feature stories tangentially related to the “main” Star Wars universe.

Entertainment Weekly, in a piece you can read HERE, details all you need to know about Rogue Squadron and its connection to the Star Wars universe.

I don’t know that the movie will feature stories about Wedge Antilles, but it could do a lot worse than to do so!

TOM CRUISE > STAR WARS?

As mentioned in a Countdown last week, the first Star Wars spin-off movie will be entitled Rogue One and will release in 2016. It’s very cool title and refers to Rogue Squadron, the contingent of X-Wing pilots to which Luke Skywalker famously belonged. Yesterday, Paramount Pictures released the preview to the new Mission: Impossible movie which is subtitled Rogue Nation. Coincidence? Surely. And with the amount of time between the release of these two movies, neither company will feel a need to back off its title.

You can view the Rogue Nation trailer HERE.

You can view the Rogue One trailer currently only in dreams.
